Return to you
Tail lights reflected
Ruddy on the
Spray ridden road
Lights from above and
Metronome of wipers
Flacking back and
Forth.
I come to you as a
Lost bird
Returns to his nest,
Tumbled leaf to the Earth,
A spiralling, falling
Down.
I have missed you, my love
For the shortest time apart,
I have missed you and
Now return to you.
Your wide smiling eyes,
Your dark hair draped,
Your nose, your teeth,
Your kisses.
I return through the rains
Washed across the river to beat
On the roof on the
Road on my heart.
Washing away the doubts
The fears and the islands that
Drift furtive and flustered
Through the moonlight.
I return, I am still
I am singing I am
Joy, for the rains
Wash me up on your
Shore.
It is quiet in the raucous
Din of the drumming,
I come home, come to you
And am freed.
