Mystery and meaning
A whole life swung
Between gibbets of mystery
And meaning,
Meaning sought from the
Feckless fray, purpose
Crying to be found,
A lens of sense to
Lay across it all,
Whilst mystery lies
Waiting, silent, brooding,
Her cloak unveiling to
Yet more unseen.
Mystery and meaning, intwined
For mystery emerges from
The solidity of meaning and
Meaning is born out of
Mystery.
Upon the two a life
Lays cast, adrift,
Torn apart as two
Poles wrench, aghast,
Until sometime somehow
A third world enters.
Mastery.
Mastery makes whole
Mystery and meaning, lives
Alongside them, within
And beside, brings
The roaring silence to
Deaf mute clamour.
